Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters and Big Millions

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta better known as Lady Gaga, is a worldwide star.  Since signing a record deal in 2007, her career skyrocketed with such hits as “Just Dance”, “Poker Face”, “Bad Romance”, and my favorite “Alejandro”. This NYC hometown girl sold 23 million albums, 64 million singles and is recognized as the best-selling music artist of all time. She has five Grammy Awards and 13 MTV Awards. Lady Gaga’s celebrity net worth is $150 Million.

Born in New York City on March 28, 1986 Lady Gaga is Italian and French-Canadian. She went to Catholic School and attended NYU, before withdrawing to focus on her music career. Even though she grew up in Manhattan, Lady Gaga did not come from a wealthy background as many believe. Both her parents worked very hard, putting in long hours at a telecommunications company. Lady Gaga has often said that she came from a lower-class family and they worked for everything they had. Her mother worked out of the house from 8am to 8pm in telecommunications and so did her father. She learned the value of hard work from them.

In an interview with the Star Tribune, Lady Gaga says that she was an excellent student, “very dedicated and disciplined” in school. Lady Gaga often said that she felt out of place in school because she was either too provocative or too eccentric. She often felt like a “freak” in high school because she did not fit in. Interestingly enough, the catholic school she went to has some very famous alums such as Paris Hilton, Caroline Kennedy, and Gloria Vanderbilt.

Gaga began playing the piano at age 4 and wrote her first power ballad at age 13. She started performing at open mike nights at the age of 14. In 2003 she attended NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she honed her song writing skills.

Lady Gaga is a major activist in the LGBT movement, donating her time and money to the cause. Gaga often refers to her fans as little monsters. They idolize, emulate and, purchase all things Gaga. Gaga has 5 million twitter followers and 10 millions friends on Facebook.

Not only is she a major force in music but Lady Gaga is a major force in advertising too. While many celebrities just endorse products, Gaga will work with the company and brand by giving her thoughts and creative energy into product. She is expected to earn over 100 million this year for her many endorsment deals.
